The Order of Santiago , also known as Order of Saint James of Compostela , was a military and religious order that arose in the twelfth century in the Kingdom of Leon. The St. James Templar Knight name comes from the patron saint of Spain, James the Greater, under whose protection Galicians' and Asturians' Christians started to fight the Muslims in Spain in the 9th century. The original purpose of the order was to protect pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago and drive back the Muslims from the Iberian Peninsula.
Following the death in 1493 of the Grand Master Alonso de Cardenas, the Catholic Monarchs joined the Order of the Crown of Spain and Pope Adrian VI joined forever Maestrazgo Santiago to the crown in 1523.
All cotton made clothing, composed of white colored cloak with a sewn red Cross of Santiago. Typical dress of a knight of the Templar Order of St. James, founded in Spain in 1158 to protect the pilgrims on their way toward the Compostela sanctuary. One size. accessories not included
