The Engraved Spanish Breastplate
by Marto of Toledo Spain
The Spanish Breastplate by Marto of Toledo Spain is an one piece breastplate covering the fore trunk. This model breast plate was typical of the Spanish armory of the 16th century and was mainly worn by foot soldiers. This breast plate is enriched by etched decorations, depicting floral and mythological motifs. The Spainisg breastplate was fastened to the body through leather belts that cross themselves on the back.
